TFF,

I speculate that the introduction of single stock futures, and its' impact on the round-the-clock Globex system, as you mentioned - plus the international familiarity with these types of individual equity-based derivative instruments - will lead to more off-hours trading activity, and therefore more liquidity, on ECNs and in other market centers after hours.

And surely, with arbitrage opportunities abounding, the options markets/exchanges will try to follow with extended hours trading at some point.

All of which, I believe, will pave the way for the realization of 24-hour equity trading within the next three years...IMHO. (Having T+1 in place wouldn't hurt, either.)
