Sonny and All,

Looks like DEC is going to file a countersuit to force Intel to
continue to supple advanced product info and supple CPU's.

biz.yahoo.com

I have always contended that Intel doesn't have to shut off the supply
of CPU's to cause damage to DEC's PC business. All Intel needs to do
is not give DEC the advanced product info and pre-production prototype
parts needed to get systems ready to market at the first announcement
of a new Intel CPU. This alone would cost DEC 6 - 9 months of market
access because DEC would not have systems ready when HP, CPQ, DELL ...
are selling to customers.

Make It So,
Yousef

Digital may pursue antitrust lawsuit - NYT

NEW YORK, June 2 (Reuter) - Digital Equipment Corp is hinting it may be willing to file an antitrust
lawsuit against Intel Corp (INTC), the New York Times said.

In Monday's edition, the Times said a letter from Digital vice president and general counsel Thomas
Siekman to Intel implied that DEC may be willing to escalate the patent dispute between the two
companies.

The day after Intel filed a breach of contract suit accusing Digital, Siekman maintained that Intel's
domination in the silicon chip business constituted a monopoly and that Intel was obligated under
antitrust laws to furnish Digital with information about its upcoming products.

The Times said that antitrust lawyers who reviewed the letter said Digital seemed to be contending that
Intel chips were an ``essential facility'' to the computer industry.

The two companies have traded lawsuits in recent weeks in a dispute that alleges Intel stole key
technologies from Digital's Alpha chip and used them in their popular Pentium chips.
