I hate to slam the Greenspan, but I kind of agree with you. Alan seems to be missing a very large shift in investment patterns. It's no longer just the rich, but middle america that gets hurt when the market goes down the tubes like it has in the last 9 months. Rather than trying to teach us a lesson with rate hikes, he ought to stick to just fighting inflation/recession like he's supposed to. If he'd done that, then we wouldn't be in the dire straights we are in now, and we wouldn't need this surprise .5% rate cut to stimulate a teetering economy.

His wild swings in rates cuts/hikes are evidence of what in Operations they call the bullwhip affect. It's bad management is what it is.
