G.V. and Mary, Re: economists

O.K., that's enough wisecracks about economists. Not all economists are misinformed or "dangerous." Sometimes the macroeconomists are, but recently even they've learned. And the microeconomists know stuff that is true and relevant and elegant. I may be biased, I am one. :-)

A *lot* of economists thought Nasdaq 5000 last spring was questionable. Even more thought that multi-billion capitalizations for dinky little dot-coms and Unix start-ups was silly.

They were right.

But I do agree with Mary that our economy is fundamentally sound. Especially if the new administration lifts the quota on H-1B visas and permits more skilled people into the country.
