victor, i agree they are crooked. i do not like them having my money. however, i appreciate things like roads, street lights, the military and many laws that protect the citizenry. i also appreciate that we have a structure for dealing with issues. i also appreciate my education.
if a few more $$$s in your pocket is worth anarchy to you, so be it. you are a minority.
i'm all for stream lining govt, but the american people will never elect someone like me. maybe that's a good thing. ;-)
but, given that the govt needs money to operate, the rich should pay a higher % rate for the reasons outlined. we agree on a graduated tax rate - why else would you say the first $20k goes untaxed.
we aren't arguing concept, we are arguing implementation.
if you want money back, reform govt and make it work right. pay off the debt (money spent on our generation that was NEVER EARNED). then get some dough back.
btw, one could argue that everyone should get the SAME tax break. not rate break, but break.
$500, $1k, $2k, whatever, per taxpayer. sounds fair.
we should feel incredibly bad for sloughing off our debt onto the next generation. much more so than trying to get a more of a tax break than everyone else in dollar terms.
but, als, people tend to think about #1. |
