Yes, I think that's what Intel is doing. That's what I was trying to say in my post, but you said it better.

They already have. There have been several consumer industries that have come out of Intel's Architect Lab that have been successful.

I doubt it. It's like you said, they're entering this, just to create the industry for other consumer players, in order to stimulate overall chip demand.
