Actually, James, all one has to do is ask...<g> although, I've posted my political comments on SI several times... I don't pick political parties, I only have my own political views...
I'm fed up with the liberal givaway programs which have been not much more than a wasteful trashing of my hard earned dollars... these government programs were a great idea when they first began in the 60's, they sounded idealistic and were no doubt noble minded, but they've taken on a life of their own and have sadly created a generation of people who have no motivation for work or individual industry, they make babies all over the place and then cash your welfare tax dollars on crack and lottery tickets...
This is not a black or white thing, this is the systematic and systemic trashing of America by a generation of Americans who have been created by a system that discourages individual effort and rewards complacency... take affirmative action, for example, which has failed miserably... only the mediocre can be hired and be promoted... first there's discrimination, then there's reverse discrimination, what the hell is going on... let's just do away with this can of worms already...
Exemplary individual efforts are ignored or discounted for the sake of 'make believe' equality... people ought to be recognized for their personal and individual achievements and not for their contribution to the ethnic quota... what a farce..... and if you make a comment like I just did, someone might call you a racist just for expressing your own opinion, what ever happened to freedom of speech... even better, someone might piss away more of your tax money and file a law suit in federal court and sue you for expressing yourself only because you may have unintentionally hurt someone's little feelings.... enough already.....
Guns? I only own five firearms and I'm an excellent shot, so is my wife, she owns two firearms... just enforce the laws we already have on the books, crime has taken over the streets and bleeding heart judges turn the criminals back out on the street to assault more victims, the police are out numbered, and these career criminals have been created by the bleeding heart liberals... in fact, I think Ashcroft will do just fine as Attorney General but I'm sure he'll have a tough time during the process...
I recommend Robert H. Bork's "Slouching Towards Gomorrah" in which he most articulately describes the progression of this country toward mediocrity because of a generation of government policies... Bork's brilliant collection of essays covers U.S. history from the early 60's to today, great reading... there's a wonderful and most insightful article early in his book discussing the U.S. involvement in Vietnam ...
