No, societies and cultures don't always progress.

And I agree with your point on how intrusion may be viewed, particularly from Americans....I mean, it's human nature to become defensive if you think someone is trying to tell you what to do, and often it makes you even more determined to do the act anyway. But I'm hoping there's some way to at least ease on these types of sentences such as hers and the one the men found with the alcohol already received.

The idea of where's Jesse Jackson is an interesting thought. If I remember correctly, he tried to do some work on finding peace in the Middle East a while ago and he was able to put on the diplomat's hat for that....and diplomacy and tact is what's in order for a situation like this.

And I know what you mean about sometimes just going to bed (although I didn't take any offense to anything you wrote)....My problem is that I forget that I'm just typing words and the tone of voice and the visual gestures aren't coming through...and so it gets misinterpreted and sometimes offends someone.....and then I go back and read what I wrote and THEN I realize that without the tone of voice and the visual gestures the message isn't clear and can easily be interpreted in a way I didn't mean.

Thanks for your feedback...

Greta
