Well from the 10 year chart gold is down 30% from its 1996 peak rather a substantial dulling of it's luster of course this is against the bloated dollar from which there is too much liquidity flooding the world market...Better still is this caption from your aforementioned site "" Books about precious metals investing and Y2K.
