"Fingerprints Go High-Tech in Beaumont: Police Can Identify Bad Guys in Minutes With Their New Computerized Live Scan System" Riverside (Calif.)Press-Enterprise (12/28/00) P. B1; Moore, Steve
In California, the Beaumont Police Department will shortly be using a Live Scan computerized fingerprint identification system from a Sunnyvale, California based company, according to the department's support services analyst, Kari Mendoza. Lt. John Acosta says that everyone arrested by Beaumont police will be fingerprinted from now on, regardless of whether they were arrested for a felony or a misdemeanor. In the past, Acosta said, some misdemeanor suspects were not fingerprinted. Prisons and jails are already using the technology, and throughout the area, a number of law enforcement agencies are using the fingerprint machines.
