AMERICAN POWER CONVERSION ANNOUNCES THE NEW SURGEARREST SURGESTATION

Product Series

New, Innovative Design Revolutionizes The Form of Surge Suppressors

WEST KINGSTON, R.I., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- American Power Conversion
(Nasdaq: APCC) (APC), the worldwide leader in power protection
solutions, introduces the new SurgeArrest(R) SurgeStation(TM). This
new SurgeArrest series provides surge protection for PC's with modems,
computer peripherals, cable TV equipment and other electronic
equipment. It is offered in three product families: professional
series, performance series and the network series SurgeArrest.

"The innovative design of the new SurgeStation(TM) has incorporated all
of our customers' suggestions on key features, while maintaining the
high- performance protection that makes SurgeArrest(R) one of the best
selling surge suppressors in the world," said Joe Loberti, APC general
manager, Systems Protection Solution Division.

The SurgeStation features eight outlets, including three outlets spaced
to handle transformer blocks and two "always on" outlets for devices
requiring constant power. It also provides a building wiring-fault
indicator which allows the user to diagnose wiring problems as soon as
the unit is plugged in. A new right-angle plug maximizes work space and
a switch large enough to be pressed with your foot, but recessed enough
to prevent an accidental turn-off, saves from bending and reaching. On
selected models the SurgeStation offers cord-management straps that
allow the user to wrap up and organize unruly power cords.

The new SurgeStation is available in models with built-in protection
for multiple telephone lines, telephone and cable/DSS/cable modem
protection or network protection (100BaseT, 10BaseT and Token Ring).
The new SurgeStation's compact design can be mounted on the wall or fit
aesthetically on or under your desk or workspace.

The SurgeStation series will list at $59.99 and above and will ship
late June. The SurgeStation line of products joins APC's professional,
performance and network SurgeArrest families. In the professional
series SurgeArrest line, the Pro8, Pro8T2, and Pro8TV will join the
Pro7 and Pro7T. In the performance series SurgeArrest line, the Prf8TT
and Prf8T2 will join the Prf7 and Prf7T. In the network series
SurgeArrest line, the Net8 and Net8N will join the Net7, Net7T, Net3
and Net3T.

All SurgeArrest models have the best UL 1449 (330V) rating for surge
protection across hot, neutral and ground lines. Each SurgeArrest is
equipped with APC's Lifetime Equipment Protection Policy that will
repair or replace damaged equipment by an AC spike or surge including
surges due to lightning (up to $25,000, see policy for details). In
addition, all products carry a lifetime warranty.
