Did We Ever Find Out What Prompted The Feds Largesse

Unfortunately I had to spend most of the day on damage control and did not get any time to read the thread or much of the news other than what I caught on the ticker.

What I did see did not seem bad. Retail sales were flat when compared to last year, which was a tremendous year. Factory orders for the month of November were greater than had been expected. The increase in the unemployment new and ongoing claims although a bit more than expected was not that great and still leaves the unemployment level at what would have been considered inconsistent with a non-inflationary economy, not so long ago by those who think that unemployment has something to do with inflation, <gg>

JPM made a 52 week high and $BKX was one of the few green indices. $XCI, although a little pink, seemed just fine when today’s activity is looked at from the perspective of yesterday's.

So what gives? Was this just an opportunity for the banksters to unload more inventory at better prices? Clearly the boyz were selling.
