Ali, The idiot put "Partition Magik" over the 30G FAT32 partition, ... I really don't see why partition magic should cause such a problem. You imply that it introduces lots of additional indirection in traversing directory trees, or that the locality of lots of related files is lost. Maybe, but I doubt it. Regardless of that, once the files had been copied to a new partition, as they were, any effects attributable to partition magic would be lost. There is no limit in people idiocies. I remember you once claimed that Rambus would only work properly under favourable weather conditions. John
