Some time I was researching some power sellers organized on the East Coast in anticipation of dereg. Simply couldn't find any info. I spoke with an industry insider with whom I've lost contact with that claimed these weren't "real" cos. They were a guy with a phone in a largely empty office...a shell...a sham...simply waiting. I asked him what the prospects for these companies might be. He told me the sole purpose of these cos. would be to jack up the price to the end user. That was the course he expected dereg to take.

I had no idea what he was talking about. I didn't know enough about the environment to ask enough questions. I'm starting to get it now.
