Phillips wanted to get DV into MPEG2 format for writing to a DVD disk.

"In the case of the new Philips devices specifically, the NW701 transcodes DV to an MPEG 2 format for writing/re-writing onto optical media."

They should have used DVxplore which can do DV to MPEG2 trancoding.

Why didn't they?
