tc you're welcome, as always. i'm just glad to have the updated defs. and i've totally gotten into the habit of running a scan almost immediately after retrieving them. if not convenient to do so right away, then for sure by that evening. the full system scan is running as i type, i set it to scan all three partitions on two drives, and it scans about 74,000 files. takes about a half hour. but like i say, i can work during the scan. i figure that symantec must have found something out there that's new and improved on the virus front, and if they are compelled to release new defs to combat it, i feel the same sense of immediacy. :) mark
