The dot.coms were funded by VC money and IPO's - so the stockholders have already lost, and the VC's will be writing off a bunch of losses in their 2000 taxes.

Shouldn't affect the conventional credit world much at all - regular banks would not have loaned much if anything to risky startups like that.
