As far as I know this is just surge supression, a "powerstrip" that works. It does not provide backup in the event of a power failure.

If you have ever lost equipment due to lightning strikes, this is what will protect it. It adds some nice features, like the spacing of the outlets, so now when you plug in that dinky power supply for your modem or whatever, it won't cover up two other outlets.

I don't think the product technology is earthshaking, but the additional marketing efforts and features will sure help.
