HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 2001--Weiner's Stores Inc.
(OTCBB:WEIR) announced today that total sales in its continuing stores
for the five-week period ended Dec. 30, 2000 increased 11.5% compared
to the same period last year. The continuing store sales were $29.2
million for the five-week period ended Dec. 30, 2000 compared to $26.2
million in the same period of 1999. Comparable store sales increased
4.6% compared to the same period last year. Because the company closed
44 stores earlier in 2000, sales from the 44 closed stores have been
excluded from the December 1999 results.
