Volatility like this is terrible.

Stable systems do not gyrate like this.

The Nasdaq is truly turning into Las Vegas here. I don't like gambling.

Where is this volatility coming from? Almost everyone I know is negative for the year. Individuals (I think) by this time are trading less, as most traders are probably negative for the year.

Systemic volatility like this is a bad thing, and if we do crash in the next few months, it will need to be addressed.

Uncle Al should have raised margin requirements in 1999 as he pumped money into the system. Why did he not do so, esp. when he knew that we were in a tech bubble?
