Applied Magic to Showcase New Consumer-Level Video Editing Appliance at CES January 5, 2001
Sequel Brings the Fun of Video Editing Home, is Easy-to-Use, and Offers
Crystal Clear Video for Under $2,000
CARLSBAD, Calif., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Magic will introduce its new entry-level video editing appliance to the consumer market place when it unveils Sequel 20GB during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nev. Jan. 6 - 9. Applied Magic will also spotlight its new 60GB ScreenPlay.
Starting at $1,995, Sequel is a complete, PC-free video editor designed to optimize video production while eliminating the long learning curve and system configuration hassles that users often encounter with computer-based editors.
"Sequel is extremely easy-to-use and appeals to individuals, families and companies looking for a potent entry-level video editing solution," said Paul Wickman, chief operating officer for Applied Magic. "Sequel is highly affordable, while offering editors crystal-clear video and real-time edits, transitions, titles, color effects and special effects -- all at point-and-click, drag-and-drop speed."
Ease-of-use and affordability aside, Sequel's key feature is its real-time effects engine that eliminates rendering, thus greatly reducing the time it takes to complete a polished video production. Sequel's other features include:
-- An intuitive and easy-to-navigate user interface
-- Simple trim, cut and paste, drag and drop editing
-- Real-time transitions and special effects
-- A titler with multiple style adjusters e.g. font style and sizing,
drop shadow, outline
-- The ability to interface with a variety of external storage drives
In addition, Sequel supports S-video, composite video and optionally DV-1394; easily interfaces with standard display devices -- a computer monitor, video monitor or television, and comes with a mouse and custom keyboard.
Sequel's high quality production capabilities make it an ideal tool for the consumer, education, religious and small business markets -- companies, groups and individuals looking to incorporate the benefits of an in-house media department without the high cost or steep learning curve associated with more elaborate video editing production systems.
A set-top box resembling a VCR, Sequel has many of the features of Applied Magic's higher-end editor, ScreenPlay. Videomaker magazine honored ScreenPlay by naming it "The TurnKey Nonlinear Editing Appliance of 1999." Government Video magazine honored Sequel's prototype by naming it one of the "TOP 10" products at the National Association of Broadcasters Expo 2000.
