In the last few days, the distribution of S&P500 stocks changed significantly.

On 12/28/00 night, there were 190 S&P500 stocks near 52-week high.

On 1/4/01, there were only 82 S&P500 stocks near 52-week high.

A sharp drop from 190 to 82 in 4 (trading) days was very significant.
During this 4-day period, Mr. Greenspan also lowered interest rates by 1/2 %.
