Could this be just the older generation b**ching about the younger again? (NOTE: I qualify as an old fogey myself.)

I rememeber my parents and other adults considered Elvis, then the Beatles, trashy, garbage, dirty, and "certainly not music". I remember being laughed at when I said the Beatles would become classics.

The purpose of teenagers is to irritate their parents.

OTOH, there was a LOT of trash produced back then that is completely forgottern now.
