Could NTAP's situation be analogous to Ciena's. That is, they are selling the right product to their market. Maybe the items facing the IT slowdown are PCs (definitely), mainframes (probably) and big servers (also probably). So while in total IT spending may be slowing, NTAP could still see an increase.

That's the way I see it. IT may not be implementing new apps, but employees are still sending and receiving e-mail (with huge attachments) and customers are still hitting their web sites, yadayadayada.

The alternative is for IT to tell everyone to "clean up your files". That is not an effective solution, imo. <g>
