The only problem I see with selling part of qcom holdings to buy other quality techs at low prices is the tax issue. I would lose 20% of gain to federal gov't and about 7% to New York state on a cost basis of 6. This seems like a big penalty just for changing seats. Of course in a IRA or 401K this is not a problem and I would then consider trading maybe 1/3 of qcom for JDSU, PMCS, BRCM, CSCO, MSFT. I think qcom will not come back substantially until later this year, in anticipation of 2002. It was valued on 3G basis early last year, certainly not current earnings, 3G needs to come more into focus.
