Maybe human nature is such that we want to, and take pleasure in, passing on what we
know so it won't be lost.

But why charge if the pleasure is in sharing the knowledge...when places like SI provide a convenient place to do it free, particularly if you are already raking in the $ trading?

All sorts of people charge to teach various disciplines, I have in my profession, and people are generally willing to pay more for the better teachers.

I think the difference in trading is that no other discipline provides the potential earnings practicing the discipline on it's own. Well maybe they do...but tiger Woods isn't going to sell his time offering golf lesson, Julia Roberts isn't giving acting lessons for some $ on the side. Sure there are lots of people offering lessons in these type of things, but no one is under the illusion that the teachers are "the best" in their field. One of the guru's on SI who operates "DA ROOM" claimed today to be "the best at reading P&F there is i know."

As regards trading, maybe it's worth a lot of money to be taught by a knowledgeable and talented, if not controversial, personality in private without having
to wade through all of the idiotic, mindless drivel we find on SI by persons with nothing better to do than breathe hatred and spew nonsense

Most of the gurus who market on SI have moderated threads and yeild a quick finger on the switch. Plus, anyone could use mirc or other free or very low cost solutions for private/controlled chat.
