Night Fell A Spoon Full of Diamonds...

...the DJIA-30 since SEP-00 has been statistically stationary; ie., without apparent Trend.

DIA - DIAMONDS TRUST 1/100 (STOCK)

DJX.X - DJIA30 1/100 Index (OPTIONS)

CENTER = 106.5 draw a horiz.line here...

...the 50d, 100d, and 200d EMA all converge at ~106.5

Draw a horiz.line at 103.5 and 108.5; construct ascending & descending fib between these levels: this is the "interior" trading range.

Draw a horiz.line at 100 and 113; construct ascending & descending fib between 99.9 and 113.1: this is the "exterior" trading range. Note the confirmation of ~105 and ~108 pivot points ;-)

a useful "fast" sto for this index is %K = 7.

fwiw, I'm using METASTOCK. An intresing, alternative way to view DJX.X is: (1) select "line" chart instead of candlesticks or HLC bars, where line = CLOSE; and, (2) change the periodicity from daily to other, where other = 2 days... this has a nice smoothing effect -- keep %K = 7.

though the percent moves of DIA stock are small, say ~3% or so -- it should be possible to "leg into" DJX.X option positions with considerable leverage.

so long as INDU remains stationary, option positions at least 3-months out should forgive all sins (^_^)
