A rather interesting divergence has occurred during the past 5 weeks since 12/1/00. At that time, the semi-equips as a group bottomed and have since been recovering - a gain of 18 percent. In the same period, the NASDAQ is down 9 percent. Usually the 2 "indices" move together with the semi-equips about twice as volatile as the NASDAQ.
