All streaming video methods use some form of compression. A high
quality high chroma digital bitstream without compression my be as
great as 80Mbps. After it has been MPEGed it drops to 5-15Mbps
depending on the ACCEPTABLE quality of the result.

Current streaming products work well on the internet and LAN, i.e.
Microsoft Netshow etc, but they are not real-time yet because they
have to build ASF bitstream before transmission, and the decode is
software based not hardware thus is intrusive. MPEG is the way
forward for high quality, high bitrate video transmission, there is
little doubt that it has MASSIVE monentum right now.

For low bit rate, we will live with Vxtreme and Netshow for the
foreseeable future. Do some research into the number of 2 Mbps
streamks that a Microserf NetShow box can serve !

There is a lot of work to be done before it is a high end HW based box
for commercial level applications such as broadcast video on demand,
and it does'nt even play a part in video supertrunking.

NUKO is in the right position at the right time. They WILL have to
adapt hardware and indroduce new products as technology changes (ie 1
chip MPEG2 encoders etc). Right now they need to focus on Broadcast
quality MPEG across ATM networks. ADC, Nortel,Vyvx,Cisco with this
revenue they can add new products.

If they can do the following numbers then I think we will all be in
Aspen for Xmas 98
