csco isn't special...the nasdaq isn't going back up and either is csco...the are both going lower and staying there for about 10 years or so. Wednesday and Thursday, Cisco was doing pretty well. However, the rumors started again on Friday--which were unfounded but still managed to hit the stock pretty hard. Think this type of rumor starting should be investigated just like the Emulex hoax but that is another matter. If the stock can go down on rumor, it is understandable. However, if it stays down after the company refutes the rumors, that is not encouraging. On Friday, it was the banks and California utilities that really spooked investors. Again that was probably a rumor started by short sellers to keep the market down. That may also be a sign that there is panic among short sellers. Will be a tug of war in the coming days. The biggest questions for me is mutual fund flows data that is released this week; also mutual fund cash levels and 401k inflows data. These questions are just as important as earnings. Of course a positive earnings picture could bring people back to the markets in a hurry. Mot and Yahoo report earnings but Cisco, JDSU and many others are participating in a Morgan Stanley tech conference this week. These two are expected to paint a positive picture and that could turn the tide. Planning on listening to the webcasts. The fact they are participating is a hint that things are going very well,IMHO.
