"During the recent Yugoslavian uprising (the second October Revolution), when faced with a president who lost the election and refused to concede, they rose up and physically threw him out of office. They were not afraid of death, reprisals, anything. They just knew in their heart that a great injustice was being done and that it was up to them to undo it.
When the exact same thing happened to the Americans, we sit idly by and watch, pretending that it's not as big a deal for us...Why aren't we storming the capitol with torches burning, ready to do what it takes to get the pretender out and the legitimate leadership in?
As we speak, we should be marching on Washington, leaving a path of destruction behind us."
There was a concession in this election. Perhaps the author of the post you are quoting missed it.
Do you seriously endorse these sentiments? Do you genuinely believe it serves and forwards your cause to call for armed insurrection because the opposing party defeated your party in a Presidential election? Do you honestly feel any such action could possibly be in the best interest of the Democratic party, or of any of the causes you cherish, going forward? When the structure of the democratic and electoral process in this country is still perfectly intact (and it is, it would be sheer nonsense to suggest anything else!)? When all the avenues for peaceful, orderly change still exist? When the Democrats still have every chance to win future elections and make or influence national policy? |
