Franz and thread,

A few thoughts re. NYTimes vs. IBD and others:

--IBD is the brain child of O'Neill who is a pioneer of momentum investing. However, by now, I think all significant mo-mo players have left GLW as well as other high-techs stocks, and the bit players from SI and Yahoo don't really count. (Sorry guys, it's the truth!)

--top/bottom growths in the 20s/30s aren't shabby at all in the context of a borderline recession era that we are in. Remember the company growth rates in the early 70s and 30s? Those were before my (investment) times, but I am a good student of history.

--I firmly believe that Corning, given a few years, will replace one of the current "four horsemen" to become a high tech general in the true sense of INTC/MSFT.

--There may be other small cap issues growing at 20-30$ and sporting a lower P/E, but none has the risk/reward ratio that Corning offers. Some of us simply will NOT put my $$$ in penny stocks, period.

Ibexx

PS: In a separate post, I will provide a six-months fundamental analysis of GLW by a private firm.
