Mr. Palau: I agree with you....BUT what I am saying is that perhaps the GOVERNMENT ought to check the Immigration papers of EACH person BEFORE they (the Govt Agency) grants ANY aid...whatsoever!! If our laws are to mean anything at all, they should be enforced.
The US Government (taxpayers) grants housing, food, medical,SSI, and who knows what else to qualified individuals. An immigrant can be Legal, Illegal, or a Refugee....Refugee's seem to qualify right away for all sorts of programs, even programs that our Senior Citizens who have been US taxpayers their entire lives, can't qualify for.
If ANY Democratic or Republican members of the House or Senate insist that Linda Chavez "should have known"....then I believe that we as citizens, insist that Our Government SHOULD know that a person is a Legal immigrant or on Refugee status Before granting any program to anyone.
What I believe we will find is that there are MANY MANY people who aren't qualified to live in the United States, and who aren't qualified to collect any benefits.
Why should Linda Chavez be any kind of scapegoat, especially if our Government isn't willing to enforce our laws. |
