<<The company is losing lots of money. Then again, so are almost all internet related stocks and wireless communication companies.>>
The difference with MCOM is that they are actually getting something quite significant for their invested money; they already have put in a network infrastructure that will eventually be worth $$$BILLIONS.
<<MCOM has only managed to sign up 30,000 subscribers thus far.>>
Hmmm, you claim to know crucial information ('crucial' wrt its significance in pegging its value in the marketplace, and in drawing further funding) typically released quarterly; this quarter's numbers should be interesting.
Nonetheless, 30k 'wireless' subs at 128 kbps is far far more than any other wireless service provider can claim, with respect to what we are talking about here, which is roam anywhere, anytime, always on (i.e., flat fee) highbandwidth, wireless data service. They have a HUGE lead over anybody else trying to provide 'this', which according to the popular press, is what the masses are clamoring for.
<<BTW, in early discussions about QCOM's HDR, the ability to deploy using pole mounted radios was discussed. That may not be such an advantage to MCOM.>>
While others talk about it, MCOM is delivering: "opening 14 markets that cover over 400 individual towns and municipalities. Millions of people now live and work under the Ricochet network and it continues to expand every week. Our roll-out plan is unmatched and represents a major success both for Metricom and its’ partners. ...Nearly all 25 Network Interface Facilities are complete, and the Right-of-Way division has municipal and utility agreements covering a total population of 66 million people. metricom.com
Surely you understand that the best is yet to come...but do you really grasp how close they are to lighting up the 'City of Angels'?
