Mike Yes 1987 was a great experience for me. The Friday before the crash I bought big time and watched later in the day when the Dow dropped 106 points.. I realized that Monday was going to be bad and called my dad and brother who are also full time investors. We knew the market was going to get creamed and when it started to unfold the following week I was in a state of amazement! To say I was like a deer staring into the headlights was an understatement! My dad on the other hand went into margin as my brother and I stood still. Three months later my brother and I were back in the green as though nothing had happened. We didn't sell anything. The one who really made a killing was my dad. He had seen this happen in the Depression when he was growing up and understood that we were in a bull market and that this crash was really a sharp, short correction. The one thing people have to keep in perspective is in the last 50 years when the fed has dropped rates 13 times in the succeeding year the market has been up at least 20%. There has been only one exception. Although some of us have read most of the classic texts on investing what I have found is history doesn't always repeat the way the books say. We may have a possible outline for what may happen but it doesn't always play out the same way. Eric
