hi dawg

that's impressive stuff. i think. <g> thanks for the heads up.

one thing catches my eye in the annoucement...

"The company anticipates that this proprietary software, coupled with hard drive and memory improvements, will enable PC users to double the speed and increase the hard drive capacity of personal computers"

this says to me that their software (which supposedly speeds up the cpu), needs an assist from something else (more mem? hd upgrade?) in order to double the speed.

in fact, and i'm sorry if i sound skeptical, the more i read just that one sentence, the more watered-down it sounds. point being, which of the above three enhancements (cpu, mem, hd) does most to increase the pc's speed? all must work well in conjunction with one another, certainly. but after a point, increasing processing power doesn't do much to speed things up. insufficient memory, otoh, can be quite the handicap. and a poorly maintained (not defragged) hd can slow down performance, as i suppose slower spindle speeds can too.

so, you asked for my thoughts. them were it.

:)
