Well duuuh. You can't just sell short your own companies bloated stock. Too obvious. Much better to sell 7 billion dollars worth of calls in an anonymous swiss offering in mid-1999. (ie jeff bezos) Then the average joe will have no idea what happened.

Only problem is wasn't as anonymous as he had hoped, since the only person who had enough shares to cover such an offering was himself. There's always the chance that a swiss brokerage let someone sell 7 billion $ worth of calls naked, I guess.. But unlikely.
