To all:

I noticed the following in EE Times:

"Motorola is set to announce availability of a version of the PPC chip for extended temperature ranges - targeted at the embedded systems market in telecom and other industries."

Could this be a SIMOX based device? One of the advantages of SOI is its ability to operate under higher temperatures than standard silicon products.

IBM is also conducting full circuit design and test with SIMOX wafers.

This is only speculation.
