Jim, Re: If you are a journalist why are you so biased towards AMD.

I work for ZDNet. I don't recall ZDNet accused of bias towards AMD. In fact some say it's the other way round.

By the way, the X-box hardware as it is being presented today lacks "sizzle".

I don't think so. The Xbox will have far more hardware potential than the PSX2 or the Nintendo Game Cube. The only question is how good the developers will support it. Since Microsoft chose DirectX 8.0 (with vertex and pixel shaders support) for the Xbox we should see impressive 3d games soon. In fact, the first two playable demos presented on Saturday by Bill Gates easily surpassed today's PC and console games in picture quality and detailness. Having said that, it remains to be seen if the gameplay of these games can keep up with the visuals.

The current NVDA graphics chipset is memory bandwidth bound currently with DDR. The use of RDRAM would eliminate this bottleneck.

This is true but wait until you see the NV20 (due to be released in March). And with 6.4 GB/sec Nvidias Xbox chipset offers double the bandwidth of today's i850 chipset. Apparently both Nvidia and Microsoft think that the future lies there. I certainly can't argue with that. And you shouldn't either. Remember that DDR licensing is more profitable for your company?
