Berney .. The key to manual shifting is the feel of the clutch. I've taught many people to use them before. The trick that I used was to drive to a large parking lot with plenty of open space. Then I'd have the person start the car out in second or third gear. Over and over again. via this method they would quickly learn what it is to "feather" the clutch. By using this method I'm able to prevent the medical bills involved in whiplash .. not real good for the clutch, but WTH .. Once the person has the "feel" for the clutch the rest is a piece of cake.
