"I was referring only to the voice side of the telco which has been always subsidized by overcharging businesses..."

elmatador- Are you saying the $15/month I pay for each twisted pair from my incumbent is not all pure profit? I was under the assumption it has been profit for a long time.

The small business cost of a twisted pair for voice is around $20/month(I think?). I can't see this going away anytime soon because it works 100% of the time. I also thought this was pure profit for the incumbent too. The only time it's not is when the incumbent faces a copper exhaust problem. Then it's more expensive to get more lines installed. -MikeM(From Florida)
