Short Take: Siemens-Ericsson group may win Thai contract By Bloomberg News December 27, 2000, 10:15 a.m. PT A group made up of Siemens, Ericsson and Mitsui has submitted the lowest bid to supply equipment to the Thai government's new mobile phone company, according to the Manager Daily newspaper. The group quoted $73 million (3.08 billion baht). Another group, led by Lucent Technologies, submitted the second lowest bid. The government will negotiate details with the Siemens-led group, the paper said, and an agreement may be signed in January. The new phone service will start in August.
