Ref:"P.S. I'm thinking about "publishing" the book on the Web as "shareware", asking anybody who reads it and likes it to send me five bucks. Anybody with ideas on that, or about the book in general, is welcome to email me privately (carroll@rpi.edu)."
Tom, I certainly will pay $5 or whatever to read your book. But I would rather have a hard copy than to read on the Web. When reading book, I still like to sink in my most confortable couch, turn on soft classical music on my wonderful music gears, tune out the world and absorb the book slowly.
Remember to somehow sneak in words like "Iomega", "pair-o-dime", "Zip", "Jaz", "Smart Fools", "Ignorant Wises", "Silicon Investor Interactive Forum", etc. Your commentary to Mary sounds like an excellent Preface. (just kiddings of course...)
I, too, spent quite a bit of time in academia and sometimes wonder whether I should get back there. Life seems to go by much slower in academia than out here in the industry. Used to teach myself, so I know what you mean about compulsion for long lectures and preaching. |
