Hi Jdaasoc; Re Micron supposedly losing money on DDR sold through Crucial...

Why do you have to come up with the insults? And do you even know what "sematic" means? Here are the facts, you moron:

Micron's Appleton sees no DRAM price hike soon
By Jack Robertson EBN 11/15/00
...
Appleton reiterated Micron's claim to being the lowest cost DRAM producer in industry, so even at $4 each for basic 8x8 64-megabit chips "we are still making a profit. However, many of our competitors are now losing money again on DRAMs. That's why you see the Taiwanese pulling back to delay new fabs, and the Japanese to continue retrenching in DRAMs."
...

Note that the above article is from November. Since then, Micron has undoubtedly reduced the cost of manufacturing memory even more, as has been traditional in the industry for several decades, moron. Now, a 128MB stick requires 16 64Mbit chips, (or 8 128Mbit chips).

16 x $4 = $64. Micron's price for 128MB of DDR: $85.99, this leaves $22 for manufacture &c.

P.S. Your numbers do not apply to the situation we are discussing. Micron makes a lot of products, where do you have that their gross margins on the specific varieties of SDRAM that populate low end memory cards are 59%? Micron could end up losing money for the current quarter, that has nothing to do with whether or not they are selling DDR at a loss through Crucial.
