Since then, Micron has undoubtedly reduced the cost of manufacturing memory even more, as has been traditional in the industry for several decades, moron. Now, a 128MB stick requires 16 64Mbit chips, (or 8 128Mbit chips). 16 x $4 = $64. Micron's price for 128MB of DDR: $85.99, this leaves $22 for manufacture &c. -- Carl P.S. Your numbers do not apply to the situation we are discussing. Micron makes a lot of products, where do you have that their gross margins on the specific varieties of SDRAM that populate low end memory cards are 59%? Micron could end up losing money for the current quarter, that has nothing to do with whether or not they are selling DDR at a loss through Crucial.
