"...Cutler is also partial to another maligned networking company, Cabletron Systems, which possesses nearly $5 a share in cash and investments. Its stock rose to 16 last week, but that's way below its 52-week high of 52. Cabletron plans to split up its businesses, starting with its high-growth Riverstone Networks division, which could go public during the current quarter. Like 3Com, Cabletron suffers from the perception that it lacks strong technology, yet Cutler thinks Riverstone deserves to be compared to hot Internet infrastructure providers Sycamore Networks and Juniper Networks.
