I am tending to follow the investment portfolio + trading approach with an overall view on currencies. Most of my portfolio is in Aus now. I changed some more USD into AUD right at the bottom at 50-51 US cents to AUD. Now we are around 57 US cents. Hoping we really are going to see appreciation here. The largest part of my Aus portfolio is in mutual funds with Colonial First State - they have a great track record. The Geared Share Fund and Future Leaders Fund are my favorites - both returning around 30% in the last year. Then a couple of investment stocks and trading junk stocks and currently call warrants (options) on Qantas that has a really nice easy to follow chart :).

I've picked some really bad stocks in the US.... But some I really like are Safeway (SWY), Berkshire Hathaway (B of course) and Jones Apparell (JNY) . Unisys also was a good buy near the bottoms of its recent BK. (Some of these I have others I got my father to buy... he has a lot more USD) I recently did the full valuation thing on Safeway to check if itwas still good value. It still seems to be. I certainly like stocks that have gone up and up and still seem cheap. Some stocks seem cheap but Wall Street never seems to notice.... I did the valuation thing on LE too. I came up with a price below where it currently is but the chart looks promising. I picked it as a "clicks and mortar" idea.... or rather catolog page to web page.
