Brad, I read this as requiring 900, or perhaps 1600, FIT peripherals to take an enrollment fingerprint that gets placed on the smart card. Throughout the press conference, the briefer is referring to validating your ID, or authenticating yourself. Nowhere is it suggested that your smart card is going to be carrying tenprint information in case you might otherwise become an Unknown Soldier.

So any initial hardware deployment will not have meaningful revenues to Identix. Perhaps there is some software payment for use of BioLogon to sweeten it. Down the road, when and if the DoD goes fully biometric, they will need readers on all their workstations, and perhaps will be subscribers to itrust. That's where the revenues will come from.

But we're not dealing with an AFIS system here. It's for authentication, not identification.
