Thanks for pointing out DataMirror; I forgot about them. They have now been added to the EIP Portfolio.

I did a little digging and found the following definition of data mining:

"Data Mining is the use of an appropriate set of technologies to exploit patterns of information from massive customer-focused databases. Data Mining technologies use a variety of algorithms and mathematical techniques to identify potential relationships and associations between and among the elephantine set of data elements stored for analysis. Users are still very much involved and very much in control, but at a different point in the process. Potential associations uncovered by the technology are delivered to the user for the user's review and further exploration. "


This was taken from a ZD Net White paper. They are an excellent source of information on BI etc. Free registration is required.
