All: How long has there been extended hours trading?

Was this going on in the 70's 80's?

I was just thinking that after market trading seems to "cushion the blow" for losses. Its as if you wake up and think that is as low as it can go. Know what I mean.

i think it would be much more frightning to wake up and not have a clue until the bell rung.

Onn CNBC in the morning they were commenting on YHOO in "pre-trading" being up on 4,000 shares. 4,000 shares who cares? And who is trading?
