Buying, I think, had to do with Compaq rumor to buy Micron. Thinking goes that if Compaq buys Micron, Compaq with incorporate Zip into its full line. Gives Compaq a face saving excuse to drop LS120 given complaints regarding speed. Zipped Micron SKUs are Micron's best sellers. Zipped Compaq units are Compaq's best sellers.

IOM started up about the same time the rumor hit the street. Compaq is rumored to be looking for an excuse to distance itself from the LS120.
